The Cosmos

Pratt Institute

Project

Did you know our solar system orbits around a super-massive black hole?

The Cosmos collection is a visually captivating interpretation of ten interconnected astronomy concepts, presented through three distinct visualizations. Each visualization embraces unique constraints: the first is purely typographic, the second is exclusively image-based, and the third is a fusion of typography and imagery.

To effectively convey the complex relationships between concepts like Universe, Galaxy, Singularity, Quasar, Nova, Nebula, Nucleosynthesis, Photon, Quark, and Neutrino, the Cosmos collection focuses on their scale, time, and mass relationships. The first interpretation showcases exceptional communication skills through graphic design principles, while the second interpretation employs Adobe and Nikon tools to create a striking photo series. The final interpretation combines 3D modeling in Cinema 4D and front-end web languages to produce an engaging interactive infographic.

The "Growth" poster in the Cosmos collection illustrates the intricate connections between the diverse astronomy themes using typographic and graphic design principles such as scale, hierarchy, and whitespace. The "Conception" photo series, on the other hand, artistically represents the concepts linked by their role in the universe's timeline. Lastly, the interactive infographic created using Cinema 4D and front-end web development languages visually explores mass comparisons in the universe, shedding light on the relationships between the collection's astronomy concepts.
